Author Event Series featuring author Charles Roamer

Each exhibition cycle, we will host Diamond-Michael Scott and a rotating featured guest author – together they will facilitate a discussion around the spotlighted book. During this time, there will be open dialogue with the author to learn the ins and outs of where the story came from, background information, and stories you cannot hear anywhere else. You do not have to have read the book before the discussion, although you can if you would like to!

Our featured guest is local Fort Collins resident Charles Roamer, author of the book 83 Odyssey: An Adventure Down The Spine of America on U.S. Highway 83

A seasoned road trip enthusiast, Charles takes readers on a journey down a fascinating yet esoteric largely two lane highway that runs from the Canadian border near Westhope North Dakota to the Mexican border in Brownsville, Texas, which he drove in his 2006 Toyota Corolla. 

In our first facilitated discussion, we’ll learn about his adventures in making this trek, the terrain he encountered, the towns he visited, and the people he met. Besides U.S. 83, we’ll hear about other roads in the pre-interstate US highway system that’s approaching its one-hundredth anniversary.

We have the books at the museum if you would like to pick it up before the discussion!
