Composition Collage

This hands-on class will teach students to create a visual reference book utilizing various collage techniques to explore 18 different compositional design ideas. The resulting reference book will serve as an invaluable resource for future creative projects, providing thoughtful examples and samples of compositional approaches that can be borrowed and adapted. From fundamentals like the rule of thirds to more advanced layouts like radial and diagonal compositions, students will gain a rich understanding of how to arrange visual elements in engaging ways. With an emphasis on experimentation using collage materials like magazine clippings, textured papers, and found objects, the class offers an enjoyable creative playground to absorb principles of strong composition. By the end, attendees will walk away with a unique and personalized guide to drive their artistic choices going forward.
