Manager of Exhibitions and Facility
The Manager of Exhibitions and Facility position involves all aspects of exhibition preparation and installation as well as facility oversight for a historic building.
- Maintaining the proper care, handling, and housing of objects on exhibit in the museum’s care
- Maintaining art and exhibition storage areas and related equipment and inventories
- Recruits and schedules volunteers for all exhibition installations, de-installations, and packing/unpacking in accordance with accepted museum practices.
- Direct the preparation of galleries for exhibitions, maintaining lighting and inventory, installing/maintaining audio/visual equipment, and installing all artwork for exhibitions, as well as graphics and labels.
- Responsible for all condition reporting and exhibition archival photography.
- Arrange for and coordinate the shipping and receiving of all art.
- Responsible for all paperwork (loan forms, shipping bids, receipts) related to works of art on loan.
- Assist in monitoring exhibits’ budgets and perform general administrative tasks.
- Artist communications regarding artwork, shipping, travel
- In between exhibitions, manage facility issues
- Coordinating IT issues as they relate to exhibitions and the facility
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in art handling and exhibition management
● 2-3 years of experience in art installation, exhibition management
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
● Passion for the arts and commitment to MoA’s mission.
Compensation and Benefits
● Wage: $25 an hr (FT hourly position, 32-40 hours a week)
