The Wire Zoo
The Wire Zoo Workshop presented by local author Natasha Wing
Date: Saturday, March 29, 2025
Time: 9-11am
Ages: 7+
Cost:
$35 for one child
$65 for two children
In this fun hands-on workshop, children will explore art and imagination inspired by wire sculptor Elizabeth Berrien! They’ll start with an interesting drawing challenge, creating cats with both hands to experience what it feels like to be left-handed like Elizabeth. Then, they’ll become sculptors themselves, using pipe cleaners to twist and weave their very own wire animal creation. They’ll use their imagination to see the world through an animal’s eyes, and finally bring their creation to life by developing a unique story about their animal friend – including its home, favorite foods, personality, and adventures.
Price includes all materials and a signed copy of The Wire Zoo!

Natasha Wing, local author of the children’s book, “The Wire Zoo: How Elizabeth Berrien Learned to Turn Wire into Amazing Art”, will close out Women’s History Month with a book talk and craft celebrating international wire artist Elizabeth Berrien. Wing will present her book and lead a story-building activity using the pipe cleaner/wire animal that kids will create in the workshop. She will show samples of Elizabeth Berrien’s wire art, including the bird sculpture that served as an inspiration piece for her to write the book!
