My name is Xavier Pereira, and I’m a painter and photographer based in Fort Collins. Traditionally I’ve done acrylic paintings, but I’ve been more and more involved in making my own natural earth pigments from my travels, and using them in my work. My creative journey intertwines with the natural environment, where I find profound connections and endless inspiration. Through these traditional processes of sourcing, collecting, and crafting pigments from the earth itself, I aim to forge a tangible link between my artwork, and the landscapes that inspire it.

I’m also Portuguese, and Portuguese tiles, azulejos, have been a big part of my upbringing and inspiration for my work. They can be found all throughout Portugal and remind me of family. The practice of making them has been a lovely avenue for connecting the past and present, and exploring the new. In sum, my art is a testament to the beauty of our natural world, a celebration of process, and an underscore of the transformative power of collective creativity.
