Poetry Workshop with Kathleen Willard
January 21, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$20 – $25This Land is My Land: Writing Poems of Place.
Surrounded by Sue McNally’s giant landscapes of the West, we will write poetry and prose praise songs to natural, urban and domestic landscapes. Perhaps writers visited the Devil’s Tower or northern New Mexico depicted by McNally. Perhaps writers visited other iconic Western landscapes. Or, other vistas hold a special place and will provide inspiration for new poems or prose pieces. The world speaks to us and shapes our identity. Writers of all levels are welcome. The museum will host a reading of the poetry and prose written in this workshop and inspired by “This Land is My Land”.
Poet and teacher Kathleen Willard’s Cirque & Sky uses the pastoral tradition to document the beauty of the Colorado landscape and anti-pastorals to document fracking, Superfund sites, benzene spills in the Platte River, and other environmental incursions.
