DESCRIPTION:\nCall for Poetic Interpretations of Artwork\n\n\n\nEkphrasis: A vivid, often dramatic, verbal description of a visual work of art. Simply, art from art.\n\n\n\nThe Museum of Art Fort Collins invites visitors to poetically interpret our new exhibition “Contemporary Art of the West.” For the duration of the exhibition from June 28 – September 7, 2024, guests may submit original poems inspired by any of the pieces in the show or even the exhibition as a whole!\n\n\n\nWe welcome poems that offer a unique perspective, capture an emotion or reaction the art elicits, focus on a striking detail, or recreate the scene or subject using lyrical language. Poems may be in any style the poet chooses.\n\n\n\nSubmissions can be made at our front desk, online through our website, or by emailing MoAforAll@moafc.org. Guests may submit throughout the exhibition and, after the first submission, will receive free admission to return to the exhibition during its run. \n\n\n\nOn the afternoon of September 7 from 1-2pm we will have a public reading of the poems. Throughout the afternoon, poets are encouraged to take the stage and read their poems while guests enjoy refreshments. MoA will be open to the public at regular admission during the reading, but those who submit poems are allowed in for free along with 2 guests.\n\n\n\nThose who wish to participate may submit up to 3 poems throughout the exhibition. After the first submission, you will receive free admission, plus 1 guest, through September 7, 2024.\n\n\n\nThis is NOT a judged poetry contest.
